Sperm Donor FAQ in Copenhagen

Find answers to the most common questions about becoming a sperm donor with Premier Sperm Donors in Copenhagen.

Who can become a sperm donor at Premier Sperm Donors?

To ensure both your safety and the safety of recipients – and to comply with legal requirements – there are certain criteria you must meet to become a sperm donor. You must: • Be between 18 and 39 years old • Be healthy • Have no known serious hereditary diseases in your family • Undergo blood and urine tests for genetic conditions, infectious diseases, and sexually transmitted infections • Have sperm quality that meets our standards If you meet these requirements, you can help women and couples achieve their dream of having a child.

What is the Compensation?

At Premier Sperm Donors, you receive the highest possible compensation in Denmark! You are paid DKK 500 for each approved donation. If your sperm quality allows, you can donate up to three times per week, which means you can earn up to DKK 6,500 per month. The compensation covers your time, effort, commitment, and any travel expenses to visit us.

How does the approval process work?

The approval process takes about one month. You will need to complete our questionnaire, which includes questions about medical conditions in your immediate family (your grandparents, parents, any siblings, and any children). Our donor coordinator will guide you through the process. You will also undergo a physical examination and have blood tests taken. These tests screen for certain genetic conditions as well as infectious diseases, including some sexually transmitted infections. If you are approved, you can usually begin donating after your second visit to Premier Sperm Donors.

How often do I need to donate?

We expect at least one donation per week. Some donors can donate more frequently — up to three times per week — but this is not required. We do expect that you are available to be a sperm donor for a minimum of six months.

What are the legal implications?

As a donor with us, you waive all parental rights and responsibilities for any children conceived through your donations. This means you will never have financial responsibility for the children, and you have no legal claims to them. All arrangements are formalized through our legal agreements, which protect both you and the recipients. We recommend that you read our terms and conditions carefully so you feel fully informed and confident about your rights and responsibilities before you begin.

How many children can be conceived from my donations?

We have set a global limit of a maximum of 25 families. This means that an individual family may choose to have siblings using your donations, but your sperm will not be used for more than 25 women or couples worldwide. In addition, there may be national limits that we of course also follow. For example, in Denmark, a donor may donate to a maximum of 12 families.

Am I anonymous as a sperm donor?

Yes, you remain anonymous to the recipients of your donations, and we do not inform anyone that you are a sperm donor. For example, it will not be recorded in your medical records with your general practitioner. At Premier Sperm Donors, you will be an ID-released donor. This means that donor-conceived children can access identifying information about you. The law in each country determines when this information can be released — typically when the child turns 16 or 18 years old.

What does it mean to be an ID-released donor?

At Premier Sperm Donors, you will be an ID-released donor. This means that donor-conceived children can access identifying information about you if they wish. The law in each country determines when this information can be released — typically when the child turns 16 or 18. You will not be able to contact the donor-conceived children yourself, and the parents will not have access to your contact information. Only the children themselves can request this information. You are not obliged to have a relationship with any children conceived from your donations.

Why does Premier Sperm Donors need to know about my family’s health?

We need to ensure that there is no increased risk of serious hereditary conditions for any children conceived from your donations. That’s why it’s important that you have knowledge of your biological family’s health. This includes your parents and grandparents, as well as any siblings and children you may have. This information helps us get an overview of potential hereditary conditions in the family. If you do not know your biological family, or if you are adopted, unfortunately it will not be possible to approve you as a donor.
